The Media Center subscribes to a variety of online resources that are available to all students and staff. World Book Online and INFOTRAC/Gale Online Resources may be password protected so stop in the media center to get the passwords from Ms. Bonifanti or go to the computer lab and get them from Ms. Bickford.
The World Book Online Reference Center is the premier online general encyclopedia and reference resource. This comprehensive site includes all of the articles from the 22-volume print set, plus thousands more. In addition, there are more than 9,500 pictures and maps, 115 videos and animations, 9,300 sounds, and more than 100 simulated historic Web sites.
World Book Kids, an online product using World Book’s award-winning Student Discovery Encyclopedia, is designed especially for younger users.World Book Kids’ activities offer fun and useful learning tools. Four categories—“Think it!” “Be It!” “Make It!” and “Play It!”—cover a variety of curriculum topics that make learning fun.
Gale Online Resources/INFOTRAC is another resource that includes a variety of online resources: periodicals, magazines, ebooks, encyclopedias and biographical dictionaries. Click on this link for directions on searching the Gale Group Database.
Students can be seen using the media center to research using books and online materials.
