The Media Center subscribes to a variety of online resources that are available to all students and staff.  World Book Online and INFOTRAC/Gale Online Resources may be password protected so stop in the media center to get the passwords from Ms. Bonifanti or go to the computer lab and get them from Ms. Bickford.

The World Book Online Reference Center is the premier online general encyclopedia and reference resource. This comprehensive site includes all of the articles from the 22-volume print set, plus thousands more. In addition, there are more than 9,500 pictures and maps, 115 videos and animations, 9,300 sounds, and more than 100 simulated historic Web sites.

World Book Kids, an online product using World Book’s award-winning Student Discovery Encyclopedia, is designed especially for younger users.World Book Kids’ activities offer fun and useful learning tools. Four categories—“Think it!” “Be It!” “Make It!” and “Play It!”—cover a variety of curriculum topics that make learning fun.

Gale Online Resources/INFOTRAC is another resource that includes a variety of online resources: periodicals, magazines, ebooks, encyclopedias and biographical dictionaries. Click on this link for directions on searching the Gale Group Database.

This is the largest library in the world, with nearly 134 million items on approximately 530 miles of bookshelves. Resources for everyone including American Memory, the free and open access to historic maps, photos, documents, audios and videos.

Lots of news and info, links, resources, and more.

Great site for making cross word puzzles on line. Kid friendly.

100 Picture Books Everyone Should Know
The New York Public Library recommends these books that everyone should know.

Database of Award winning Children’s LiteratureCompiled and indexed by librarian, Lisa Bartle over 4,000 records of book that have one one or more of over 50 different awards.

Kids Read — includes information about authors, as well as interviews with them.

Author Pronunciation Guide, kids love to listen to the author say his or her name and tell a little about him or her self.

Read*Write Beyond the Classroom is one for teachers to suggest to parents and kids.
